Welcome First-Generation Lobos!
At UNM, we’re proud to support students who are the first in their families to attend college. We also know that being a first-generation student is just one part of who you are. Your experiences are shaped by your story—whether that includes your hometown, family traditions, challenges you’ve faced, or goals you’re chasing—all of which matter. That’s why we take an intersectional approach to supporting you. We’re here to create opportunities that reflect what success means to you and your family, while also working to make sure UNM’s programs and practices truly support your journey.
We offer several resources, programs, and communities designed to help you thrive—academically, personally, and professionally. Whether you're looking for mentorship, financial guidance, academic support, or a sense of belonging, you'll find tools here to help you succeed and feel at home at UNM. Get started by checking out some of the key resource centers and support programs below, many of which are designed intentionally to serve first-generation students just like you!
