Join the 2026 UNM First-Generation Student Celebration on November 2-6, 2026!
First-Gen Celebration Week is all about community, connection, and celebrating the incredible first-gen students, faculty, staff, and alumni who make our campus stronger. Throughout the week, you’ll find opportunities to connect with other first-gen students, attend fun events, discover campus resources, hear first-gen stories, and celebrate everything you bring to our community. Monday, November 2
First-Gen Resource Center Passport Challenge- What: Grab a passport, collect stamps, and discover resources to help you thrive at UNM. Prize drawings for completed passports will be held at the signature celebration on Nov. 6!
- When: Monday, November 2 to Friday, November 6 at 11 am.
- Where: Pick up a passport at any of our participating resource centers.

Tuesday, November 3
First-Gen Health Sciences Campus Crawl
- What: Take a trip to Health Sciences! Explore campus, connect with resources and community, and learn more about pathways to careers in healthcare at UNM.
- When: Tuesday, November 3 from 11 am to 1 pm
- Where: Meet at UNM Cactus Garden between Zimmerman Library & Duck Pond

Wednesday, November 4
College of Nursing First-Generation Celebration- What: Join the College of Nursing for a special celebration honoring first-generation students, faculty, and staff.
- When: Wednesday, November 4 from 12 pm to 1 pm

Navigating First-Gen Family Expectations Workshop
- What: Join Student Health and Counseling for an honest and supportive conversation about navigating family expectations, achievement guilt, and the emotions that can come with being the first to pursue a new path.
- When: Wednesday, November 4 from 3 pm to 4 pm
- Where: SHAC Workshop Room 16

UNM Alumni Pizza with Professionals: First-Gen Edition- What: Grab a slice and connect with UNM first-generation alumni. Hear about the twists, turns, and lessons from their journeys and get advice on overcoming imposter syndrome and career anxiety from UNM Career Services

Friday, November 6
Signature UNM-ABQ First-Generation Celebration- What: Hear first-generation stories from Provost Rodriguez and students at UNM while wearing your first-gen shirt, take part in our annual photo and celebrate with cake!
